Summer Reads- Updated!

It's been a hot minute since I've updated my summer reads, but here are a few more gems I found and would like to put on the bookshelf.

100 Grapes

This book is about a young woman who is about to get married when everything in her life is turned upside down and nothing is as it seems. Her family is keeping secrets, and so is her fiancee, but I won't spoil it for you. This is a book you'll really enjoy, so get into it with a glass of wine and a bubble bath.

Hello Sunshine

A woman that seems to have it all suddenly has her life turned upside down by the last person you would expect. When her Twitter account is hacked, she goes full-on damage control, but then somebody close to her confesses to the hack. This book, in my opinion, had a weird ending and plotline, but it still was interesting for a three-star rating on Google Play. I got this book for a steal of $15 as well as 100 Grapes by the same author.

Life's Too Short

Vanessa is a YouTuber/travel writer coming to grips with the sudden loss of her sister to ALS and is worried she will succumb to the same fate. But, wait- when her sister's newborn is dropped off on her doorstep, what is she to do but to pick up the pieces and become a pseudo-mom to Grace. This funny, poignant novel will make you laugh, cry, and want to read it over and over again as I did.

Beach Read

On the surface, this book is about a couple who meets in high school and reunites years later, but there's a surprise twist at the end.

Woman In The Water

This book had me on the edge of my wheelchair the whole time; with twists and turns, I couldn't even keep up with all of the characters. Essentially, this book is a thriller and about a detective who finds a woman in the water and his obsession with finding her killer. This was definitely one of my favourites.

The Friend Zone

This book's title is misleading, and it's not about the friend zone that we all know. Instead, the main character is hiding a medical secret that could cost her the love of her life.

The Happily Ever After Playlist

The main character, Sloane, is still grieving the loss of her fiance and trying to make the journey back to herself. She meets an up-and-coming musician and obviously falls in love with him, but it doesn't end there...

Big Girl Panties

Another one of my favourites is called Big Girl Panties. This book is a rom-com book with loads of laughs. It's an easy read and a page-turner for sure. It's about an obese young woman trying to get back into shape after her husband dies. She meets a personal trainer on a flight from Toronto back to New York.

Unpregnant

My last summer read is for the teen in your life. This highly controversial novel is about teen pregnancy, as it is aptly titled "Unpregnant." A young girl is dead-set on getting an abortion. Then, at the last minute, her boyfriend tries to convince her not to, but she gets it anyway.

So slather on that 30 SPF and grab your favourite beach bag, a snack, and one of these reads. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Happy reading and happy summer!
