A Long Awaited Update

I hope this blog post finds you all well, I just wanted to update this old blog and tell you what I have been up to. There’s a new surprise for all of you, those in my family already know and my partner in crime Abby Storey hint hint knows all about this. I can’t tell you much except it’s going to be big and exciting. No… I am not getting married nor am I pregnant, but I have been working on this secret for 5 years and I’m about ready to pop! I don’t want to give it all away, so for now that’s all you get, sorry! As you all know, I never sit still. I am diving head first into some new adventures. Unfortunately we lost the matriarch of our family this past summer, but no more tears, only full steam ahead. I have my good days and bad days, but as usual, writing gets me through. I can’t say I’m doing fantastic because I will never be fantastic again, I lost one of my best friends to cancer. I never thought the day would darken my front door, but as usual, you never think terrible things are going to happen to good people, but they do. I found out that the worst phrase you could say is, “how are you?” when dealing with a tragedy. But, I also found out that within tragedy, you can knit your family back together. Not completely, because there will always be those frayed edges, but you still have the memories of a person long gone and you’re just trying to move forward. I have also learned that it is ok to not be ok. My mom planned her own service AND wrote her own eulogy, AND requested that Elvis be present at her funeral. Love you forever Mama.

Ok, I will get off my soapbox of doom and gloom. I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and enjoys the season ahead. Peace out for now! See you next blog post. You can always find me @jillianbleackley on Instagram.
